As you know I have been operating a cute little online shop that I created over the summer called Lilac Variety.
It has been such a fun and amazing experience so far and I have to say thank you to everyone for the support! The response has been amazing and I really love packing orders for buyers as if they were gifts for my friends.
I’ve mainly been selling on TikTok Shop and Mercari. I was consistently doing well with orders while the algo did its thing, but someone gave me a 1-star review on TikTok Shop. I’m so sad about this because it’s a mistake I totally could have made since I am always on the verge of losing my marbles. I tried to rectify the situation and give a refund, too, but so far I haven’t been able to get in contact with the dissatisfied person.
I would do anything to help an unsatisfied customer so I’ve naturally been having an identity crisis about this blemish on my other good performances. Remember when I got two B+ grades during my first semester of Grad School? 😭
I felt like I had a good system in place for my shop and it was just starting to kick off until the extremely bad review. My TikTok Shop is also performing soooo badly, too! It is a new platform, so there the protocol for adjusting my account is not very easily done. It stinks, but I’ve been using the lull in orders to come up with a new system on Mercari for now before migrating my shop to WooCommerce or Shopify, which was always the plan anyway.
It stoinks, but I have a feeling it is something that will work in my favor because a major part of this project was creating a catalog utilizing the Adobe skills I acquired while doing my Capstone this year.
It seems like I’ll be implementing some prototypes of that sooner than I anticipated. I need to feel the rush of getting and fulfilling orders. I have so many grand ideas for my dream store. Ughhh pivoting is hard but if I’m not adaptable I’ll probably give up on the shop altogether.
It gets overwhelming to get it all done, but at least I have a frame of reference from starting the TikTok Shop. No platform can curate your feed like TikTok tho…
